    TOP STORIES
In a time where it has recently become popular to be musically creative as a part of the “indie scene”, Maclean offers a delightfully balanced mixture of sounds, blending sensibly structured material, powerful and creative beats and catchy guitar riffs with imaginative and triumphant songwriting in an exquisite solution, sure to captivate the ear. Starting out as a four member band in August of 2005, Drew McTaggart (Lead guitar, backing vocals), Denver Harris (Lead Vocals, Rhythm guitar), Steve Sawatzky (Bass), and Mac Carlson (Drums) displayed their strong musicianship and knack for live performances from the first time they played a show onwards. The band played shows in clubs, restaurants, and bars in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland for several months before taking a short sabbatical to finish up school and travel. The next year saw the band add an additional member, Scott Neufeld, as a back-up bass player, third electric guitarist and songwriter to add to the group’s musical range and creative dynamic. A three song EP recorded at home was released over the internet near the beginning of the summer, much-appreciated by the band’s growing fan base. The frequency and quality of their shows also began to increase, playing for a packed Croatian Cultural Center in late July and as an opening act for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Rock’n Ride Music Festival in Kelowna in August. The Fall months saw a near constant string of shows ranging from Granville Island to Portland, Oregon, as well as Maclean’s first session at DCM recording studio in Vancouver. The Maclean recording began to be the focus of the band’s energies over the next few months as the diverse and well-crafted batch of songs began to take the form of an actual album, a first effort the guys could really be proud of. “Hang This On Your Wall”, the first full-length album from Maclean is due out February 24, 2007 but the band is already looking past the CD material to new songs that stretch their creativity and musical talents in new directions, aware that their full potential has not yet been realized.
