TOP STORIES
Since their first show at KCs Music Alley in Fredericksburg, VA, Permanent Ascent has played with such bands as the Sikes (based out of Maryland), With Haste, Diabase, Satan's Boys and Girls Club, Zelazowa, and Death By Sexy. Other venues that Permanent Ascent has played include the Bourbon Room, the Loft in Fredericksburg, JAXX in Springfield, and the Grog and Tankard and Chief Ike's Mambo Room in Georgetown and Adam's Morgan, respectively.
Permanent Ascent has opened for some national acts in the past, including the Misfits and Stroke9 (both at JAXX). Permanent Ascent has and will continue to work with the distinguished Locals Only Radio and UpsideDown Entertainment.
The background vocalist and bassist, Alex Melton, comes from Seattle, WA. He was practically raised on ska and punk music, as is attested in his highly-mobile baselines. Jason Shimkoski is also an avid punk consumer from the Northern Virginia area. Founding member of Rebel Outcry and former bassist of With Haste, Jason has played guitar for more than 12 years, as well as the bass guitar, and drums for a part of that time.
Ron Whalen, Permanent Ascent's lead singer, hails from Baltimore, Maryland. Even while in between bands or shows, Ron likes to frequent karaoke bars and entertain crowds - anything to keep singing. He and Alex worked with Jason during Spring 2006 to help revive Jason's Rebel Outcry dream.
Chris Owens and Chuck Sweet have both been playing their respective instruments for ten years or more, off and on. Chris is from western Virginia (not West Virginia) near Roanoke, and Chuck is from the middle east of Texas, and claims Austin as home emeritus.
