7 questions to CL.EVER (Russia) before the World Finals

"Our music speaks for itself. We are not so simple"

    1) You participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2018/2019. What made you decide to take part in it?
At the beginning of this Emergenza Festival Edition we were like in coma and had only 3 musicians in our band. We decided to prove ourselves that CL.EVER has the right to live! So we are in Emergenza now)

    2) As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?
We are extremely inspired and happy! We want to be drowned into the magic atmosphere of great music, to do our show perfectly and to reach maximum sympathy with people at this festival! We hope we will break the language barrier by our music and love! Thank you Emergenza for such a great opportunity!

    3) What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?
Our CL.EVER has gone sky-high. It can be said not only about our music and skills, but about our new “petals” - members of our band. Virtuosic drummer, our drummer - master of his craft and our “absolutely evil” director of band! And the most touching moments are always about our true friends who are always ready to give us helping hand! This is true love

    4) What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?
Our music is full of symbols and double meanings, so the name of band CL.EVER is no different. In Russian word KLEVER is a flower, which gives happiness. And as you know in English CLEVER means to be smart, talented. These two different words from two different languages are pronounced similarly.

    5) Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage? And one which happened in backstage or during the preparation of a show ?
That was a story when our violinist Xenia had to finish her solo without a crini delt’arco, because it felt down caused by unreal expression till she was playing. So... playing with only stick of bow is very possible!
And another one. One time our vocalist Jane had swallowed her very long clump of hair when she did a breath in and then had to sing! It was so funny to look how she’s trying to get hair off her mouth!

    6) How would you describe your music?
Our music jenre in one word is “
alternative”. But if we look deeper it has a lot of nuances inside. We’re mixing alternative rock, metal, pop and neoclassic. May be something else... But the permanent fact is that our music is always a catharsis. We are all about love and light.

    7) What are your short to medium term plans after the Emergenza's world final?
We are going to record new songs which had been born till Emergenza 2019 is going. We want to make a video clip. We’re dreaming and aspiring about big scenes and craving for the victory!

“We are CL.EVER band from Kazan, Russia. Our music speaks for itself. We are not so simple. CL.EVER consists of angry guitar riffs, beautiful neoclassic harmony, two different female vocals, which create an absolutely atypical sound and violin's nerve. We are very sincere, struggling against ourselves, but at the same time full of melancholic meditation. Our name has some different values, our music is also full of symbols and double meanings this way too. Our genre in one word is “alternative”. But if we look deeper it has a lot of nuances inside. We’re mixing alternative rock, metal, pop, progressive and neoclassic. Maybe
something else... But the permanent fact is that our music is always a catharsis. We are all about love and light. You better listen once...”
