Artifiction is a five-piece Progressive Metal band from Zürich, Switzerland. Heavy breakdowns merged with melodically layered clean singing and ambient guitar, shape our sound into a wall of emotions. Lyrically speaking, we stands for a vast array of topics, ranging from heartbreak, to climate change or even how to change the world to make it a better place. Backed with low tuned, heavy sections and tight rhythmic grooves, Artifiction is an act to be seen.

1) You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2018/2019. What made you decide to take part in it?

We have heard of the Emergenza Band Contest before, from our friends, and thought why not give it a shot!

2) As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?
Really excited! We’re getting in the mind set of having fun and just being ourselves on stage, as we always do.

3) What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?

The One Shot Night in Exil Zurich, where we could win over nearly a full room of people with our music and our words.

4) What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?

Artifiction is a composition of Art and Ficition. Not really creating a new meaning for the word, but taking the definitions of the others, so fictive Art in a sense.

5) Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage? And one which happened in backstage or during the preparation of a show?

We played a show in Litomerice, Czech, where the stage wasn’t too big and it might’ve been during the second song that Marc (Lead Guitars) crashed into our ex-bass player which made him fall over the drums.

We played a show in Luzern, and as everyone was preparing, Marc was warming up in a separate room that he accidentally locked himself into. With no network, it took around 20 minutes to find him and open his door. This was crazy but really funny in the end.

6) How would you describe your music ?

The music we composed so far is a nice mix of heavy chugs, breakdowns and clean sections. Emotional for sure, through the lyrics and the compositions, but down to earth and honest, nonetheless.

7) What are your short to medium term plans after the Emergenza's world final?

As we started writing constantly in this new formation, we’re going to keep releasing new songs and playing shows around Europe until the new year. We’ll see where the wind takes us! There might be a debut album on the horizon.
