1) You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2017/2018. What made you decide to take part in it?
I knew I wanted to sign up for the Emergenza contest after I became one of the back-up singers for Nico&Vinz and we won the competition back in 2011. I chose to attend the competition because I knew it would be a good opportunity for me to develop and grow as an artist.
2) As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?
Overwhelmed. Who could’ve thought we’ve reached THIS far. My main focus now is only to have fun and embrace this huge opportunity!
3) What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?
My best memory from Emergenza has to be from the last round in Norway, Oslo when we played at Rockefeller and they announced that me an my band were moving forward to the finals in Frankfurt.
4) What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?
«Maggie Petkovic» is my bands name and i’m so fortunate to have such amazing musicians with me throughout this crazy journey!
5) If you had to choose a famous song that represents your band...which one would it be?
I would say my single «Catch 22». This song is out on Spotify and on every other digital media. I also have to say «There she goes». This is one of the songs my band really shows off their strong side on stage.
6) Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage? And one which happened in backstage or during the preparation of a show?
One thing I often do, is hitting my teeth on to the mic when I sing and dance at the same time on stage. Can’t help my self….
7) How would you describe your music?
My music is a variation between POP/R&B and SOUL.
8) Before you go on stage, do you have a ritual or a good luck charm that goes everywhere with you?
Me and my band always stand in a circle and do a so called «Michael Jackson move» before we go on stage. I also often talk to myself and hyping myself up. I need to have my 5 minutes alone before going on stage and this is only a way to calm myself down and really help me get in my «zone» before a show.
9) What is your dream gig?
My dream gig would be to play on the biggest stage on the Roskilde festival in Denmark. Superbowl in the United States would also be great..
10) What can audiences expect from one of your live performances?
One thing you will be, is entertained. If you listen closely to my lyrics, you can probably relate to a lot of my songs to. I love to interact with the audience and make people feel happy. If you get any type of emotions on or after my show, I feel i’ve accomplished one of my main goals, while on stage.o.
11) If you could invite a band or an artist at your party, dead or alive, who would it be?
Probably the one and only Queen B….. BEYONCÈ :-)
12) What are your short to medium term plans after the international final?
We have a lot going on. I’m releasing my second single in August and are now in the process of making an EP that will hopefully be released early in 2019. To be continued!
13) What inspires you when you are composing (musical inspirations or others)?
Inspiration can come from so many different angles. Often from my own experience, my friends experience or just of watching other artist perform on stage. This gives me a lot of motivation to keep working hard and never stop doing what I love.
14) Why do you think you deserve to win the 2018 Festival edition?
This whole journey started out with only the thought of improving my live performances. I see now that theres a reason why we came this far. We’ve been working our butts of and have since january strived to do better than our last performance. Always doing something new and continue to improve every time we hit the stage. I think we separate ourselves from the other bands because we can show through our performance that we have something new to bring on the table
