A huge wave of powerful sound in Montreal
High energy and passionate crowd at L’Alizé
Thursday, December 14th
The night started out shakily with a few bands that didn''t show up. However, the five bands on the bill that night did nothing but impress.
A Wasted Sacrifice and Curse of The Slain successfully debuted the evening. The crowd were awake, alert and ready for what was coming up. For younger musicians, they definitely were talented. Technical skills definitely up to par!
Jacumbai switched it up with some hip-hop, groove, reggae flow. Smooth, enjoyable, terrific stage presence: they had exactly what it took to be professional musicians and entertainers.
Feel Good probably wrote the book on "How too feel good? A lesson 101". I loved it, the crowd did too. Sublime meets acoustic beach music, fantastic and fun.
Camirand closed the evening with a raw rock and roll finish. Pleasantly surprised, they were more then talented.
Friday, December 15th
Friday night was even sketchier time wise BUT once again, talent came through that night for everyone involved. Four awesome bands who all had something to offer. The support system was strong, the ambience a lot more personal.
Winter Memories played a very organized, professional set. Vocals were fresh, energy on stage overwhelming. Bravo!
Pain by Noise return this year with an aggressive sound the crowd tends to love. Vive metal!
Eversince were another group of musicians who knew exactly how to make me smile: acoustic set that reminded me of that homely campier feel.
Manoray sewed seams of the night with a technical, experimental set that left other artists that night shaking in their boots.
Saturday, December 16th
This time around, everyone showed up. Instruments warmed up, full room of people. About 300 people came around to check out Saturdays line up. It was Angelina's (MC and Organizor's) last show till next April so staff were ready to have an incredible time. Energy was high, most people were there to support their respective bands as hard as they could.
The Rhythm Method used samplers and bad ass moves to start off the evening with a bang.
The Walsh Tribute wow-ed the audience with violins, piano and acoustic flare. SOOOO easy on the ears, vocals were fabulous.
Dimebag Johnnys reminded everyone what it really meant to be punk-rock. Believe me, they were well aware of their charisma and structured, fun sound.
Witness of a Crime had a flood of people yelling their names like wild folks! Even though they were young, they too were fine examples of musicians getting better with age. Wonderful energy.
Latema ripped that stage apart in an awesome way: their music arrangements did them justice.
Evali were snazzy, uniformed and in their best state to play.
Abendlicht couldn’t have done a better job toasting the 3rd preliminary weekend off. Melange of genres, breathtaking vocals and intriguing arrangements, definitely enjoyable.
Cheers to all winning bands!
