1) You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2017/2018. What made you decide to take part in it?
Since trying to make music for a bigger audience is a competition itself, we wanted to go full speed ahead and take on the Emergenza Festival to get a glimpse of the competition on the market of music.
2) As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?
To be honest, we're blown away. We never imagined to come this far, but it seems like an alternative genre can move buildings if it's honest and authentic! We're looking forward to prove our performance on a huge stage like the „Sounds of Nature Stage“ is. Seriously, we can't wait!

3) What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?
The best moment was in Berlin at the German Finals. To get so much constructive critique by the Jury was uplifting and motivating. It had a huge impact to clear our minds and go completely nuts when we go out and rep our set.

4) What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?
No matter where you are, you'll always struggle to get on top. Our music is about how it's worth to struggle and get what you want.

5) If you had to choose a famous song that represents your band...which one would it be?
To be honest we're pretty authentic and we couldn't think of a "famous" song that would represent us as a band. On the other hand, "Married to the noise" by Stick To Your Guns fits our attitude behind the music we make and who we are.
6) Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage? And one which happened in backstage or during the preparation of a show ?
A1: HARDCORE SHOWS ARE NOT FUNNY! Just kidding. We had a small tour through a few cities in the Netherlands and the band we toured with constantly wanted to make our guitarist Dominik go for some crowdsurf action. Since he wasn't playing wireless it was his most valid excuse, but he made a horrible mistake on our final date in our hometown Regensburg. He showed up.. wireless. His fatal fault was noticed and he got lifted up in our third song called „Saviour“, where he had some tricky overdubs to play but he owned it, though. They tried to put him down gently, but something went horribly wrong and he dived with a 720 frontflip onto the stage and I totally lost it. Thank god there were no vocal parts at this moment!

A2: We are absolute professionals and because of that reason we spent one time before the show watching Cartoon and Anime Openings and guess the right Names. The video was almost an hour long, so... well, absolute professionals.
7) How would you describe your music ?
We're all in for Hardcore-Punk, but we want to contribute positive feelings and something that hooks all kinds of people that never knew they could feel something like that.
8) Before you go on stage, do you have a ritual or a good luck charm that goes everywhere with you?
We don't have something specific, but before we hit the stage we're bumping fists and are like „Cocobello“ "Oi-Punk und ab" or „Ok. Cool. Ciao.“
9)What is your dream gig?
Every gig COULD be a dream gig to us. There's no to play a giant sold out arena or whatever. Sure, we would love to play those, too but a dream-Coast Down-gig is a gig where the crowd feels us, goes balls deep in the pit and is soaking wet afterwards.
10) What can audiences expect from one of your live performances?
10) What can audiences expect from one of your live performances?
If they're in for it, they can experience total madness, chaos, and a feeling of cohesion. We are angry, and we're not taking prisoners. We want to stay in the memory of the audience and we're not going be remembered by standing around and just nod with our heads. We want to be remembered for being the band, that spins around, that keeps moving, that tells you to not stop moving and for a Band that puts honest effort in destroying the stage. The audience can expect a performance where they can enjoy themselves however they want. It may be standing in the back and watch the band go wild, it may be total mass destruction in the moshpit and for some it will be singing along to our hooks cheering to the best memories they ever made.
11) If you could invite a band or an artist at your party, dead or alive, who would it be?
Comeback Kid, anytime.
12) What are your short to medium term plans after the international final?
Comeback Kid, anytime.
12) What are your short to medium term plans after the international final?
Shows, Shows, Shows. We want to keep moving. Andy is constantly writing songs, so we got great material for the future single recordings we're planning. It's all about spreading the word about Coast Down!
13) What inspires you when you are composing (musical inspirations or others)?
I think, for Coast Down, we found a specific sound. On the one side Andy went for harmonies he usually wouldn't use, on the other side he wanted to make the music easy to digest.
The early 2000 post grunge era and catchy hardcore bands of nowadays, were definitely an inspiration for our current demo.
Many Coast Down songs start either on the piano or as sheet music. They'll be transposed later on.
14) What question did I forget?
14) What question did I forget?
You forgot to ask what our favourite dinosaur is... It's Littlefoot by the way.
15) Why do you think you deserve to win the 2018 Festival edition?
We deliver. We're always evolving in a place where you need to evolve. We're convinced that our music – even though it's settled in a heavy genre – can reach out to so many people that haven't noticed bands like us before and to those who want to listen to something that carries a different vibe than other bands in the genre. Furthermore, we didn't win the German Finals to stop right here!
