The first round of the Emergenza Music Festival continues in the great city of Montreal as seven more bands take the stage at O Patros Vys on February 17th. What’s at stake? The winners will get a slot at the semi-final show, which happens at Club Soda – one of the city’s premiere music venues. Let’s take a quick peek at what the night has in store for us.
First up, L’Hereux Malheur, a five piece band of seasoned musicians. Their healthy mix of poetic song writing, enticing lyrics and upbeat fast paced music is sure to set the night off on the right foot.
Last Night Puzzle - no strangers to Montreal’s vibrant up & coming music scene – are up next. Their energetic sound and performance should be right on par with the evening’s proceedings.
A little classic rock and ambient blues comes our way courtesy of the next band up – Noyze. Four musicians hit the stage to wow us both musically and emotionally.
The young but powerful (and empowering) ensemble Améthyst is the fourth band of the night. Their sound and music are accentuated and set apart by the acoustic guitar mixed with melodic vocals courtesy of the singer.
Nika Cantaible continues to assert the female presence on the stage while setting herself apart from the rest by incorporating exotic sounds and instruments like the violin in her repertoire.
Offering up more then just music, Crash Nation Empire also aspire to bring a powerful message to the stage. Their pop-punk sound and loud rhythmic drum beats assure they’re able to just that.
To end the night, Zambonia hits the stage. With a well put together synthesis of alternative and punk I can’t think of a better way to cap off the night and leave the venue with a warm fuzzy feeling.
We’ll have the pleasure of seeing some of these bands again in this event, but don’t leave that up to chance. This is shaping up to a night not to be missed. Curious about some of these bands?
