Congrats on the upcoming Club Soda show. You guys must be super excited!
Will be this be your first show at Club Soda? What other venues have you guys played at?
This will be the first show for most members of the band. Some members have played at Club Soda with former projects. Safe in Sound has so far played at Club Lambi and O Patro Vys. We have also played a few smaller gigs, such as McGill homecoming.
What are you hoping to get out this show, and your experience with Emergenza in general?
From this show, we hope to get good exposure, experience on a large stage in front of the largest crowd we’ve ever played for as a band and also work on our stage performance in such a demanding setting. What we hope to get from Emergenza as a whole is to make new great musical connections and expanding our musical network as well as a recording deal.
Who is your band's hero and why?
As for our band hero, it is very difficult to say. Our influences range from heavy metal, to progressive rock, to funk, jazz, gospel. The list goes on. However, we do share similar influences and have no issues with throwing a Britney Spears cover in here and there. Not because she is one of our major influences, but because we all grew up in the 90s and have a collective sense of humor. Plus, who doesn’t like hearing a little Britney once in a while?
What would you say is your band's forte and what do you guys still need to work on?
Our forte is that we are very conscious of which components of our writing and performing need some touching up. Having 6 members, all with great senses of music, allows for a ton of input. It also allows us to act as an organization, or business, in the sense that we can allocate different tasks to different members. This has allowed us to tighten up and develop a genuine sound over the last couple of years. Our main weakness would be that we do not yet possess the capital to put together a serious, professionally-recorded album. Everything will happen with time, though.
Any message you guys would like to send your fans and anyone else who will be in the audience at Club Soda in February?
Message to our fans: We all sincerely enjoy playing our instruments and creating art together. It is comforting to know when people enjoy our music and even when we have points to improve on. As long as we have support from the fans, we will continue to do what we do best and deliver the best material possible. And even without that fan base, we would have no choice but to carry on making music anyway because it is where our hearts are.
