Formed in 2011, Grand Lark is made up of five very talented young men who came together to express their passion and knack for music. Since the creation of the and, they have written a number of original pieces and played subsequent live shows in the Montreal area in order to promote those songs as well as the band as a whole. They have collaborated with other bands on many of their live shows, taking advantaged of the shared fanbase and working to cross promote. In an effort to further their band promo, the boys are now in talk to take part in Emergenza, the international ‘battle of the bands’ competition in Montreal.
While many photos of the band are available on their Facebook page, and despite the fact that they have a solid base of nearly 400 fans who’ve ‘liked’ their band profile, there is very little information about them available on this, and other online forums. I would very much have liked to read a bit about the band’s history, as that would have helped me understand where they are coming from musically and artistically. A complete online profile is necessary for any up & coming band who wants to be known and build a fanbase.
Whatever the band may lack in online presence and marketing however, they more then make up for in their musical appeal. A wistful and touching vocal, combined with instruments that are soft and in perfect synch with the vocalist. The intro of the song is one of the most important parts for me and I really liked what I heard from these boys on Vacation, even though it’s just a few notes, it set the tone for the entire song – a ballad at it’s essence but with melodic and upbeat piano sounds worked perfectly into the whole.
