Hip Hop is associated with many stereotypes in terms of lifestyle choice and lyrical content. Clarity, a young man from Montreal has set out and is making it his mission to change that stereotype – and above all, not fit into it. Composing his own pieces since the young age of 13, it took him a few years, and a few tries to ‘get it right’ but he is now confident enough in his music to bring it out to the masses, online and as well as live on stage. Doing his part of the community, Clarity recently participated in a fund raising concert for a cancer research foundation. An admirable way for a musician to give back to the community.
Clarity is now older, wiser and more determined then when he started with his music. He incorporates a satirical, energetic spin into this live performance and, as a Montreal Mirror reviewer stated ‘charming, goofy and seemingly effortless natural energy’. He is now bringing his live show to the stages of some of Montreal’s top venues, as part the Emergenza Live Music Festival. He will start off with a show at O Patros Vys in January, and with the right energy, promotional strategy and ability to win over the crowds, will have a shot at the semi-final round at Club Soda.
The one thing Clarity does in the Hip Hop style, is feature other local, up & coming musicians in his pieces. In this collaborative way, he has put out songs such as Hitchhike ft. Underground Realroad. The chemistry between these two artists is very strong and the song comes together flawlessly. Nostalgic, Economic, all exemplary pieces of this talented artists’ work, he explores serious, real life situation with his music , his song writing and performance. The keyboard notes on Nostalgic are just the right touch to set himself aside from typical hip hop music.
