Four friends came together and after jamming for a while, they decided to form a band. They have kept their focus on playing their instruments and not getting distracted by lyrics. Regardless, their songwriting as far as arrangements is very strong and they have maintained a good presence on Montreal’s up & coming, local music scene. They are not looking at taking part in the largest international event for up & coming bands – the Emergenza Music Festival.
These guys are obviously very crafty when it comes to getting their music into the right hands. They have a number of reviews in local & indie music media for the 3-song EP – an album very well received. They have also been taking part in a number of events in Montreal and surrounding areas, all in an effort to maximize their exposure and expand their fan base as much as they can.
Their sound is very unique, right off the bat instrumental bands are not very common, but these guys have taken it a step further. In their song Ugandan Sun they have gone the extra mile to make the sound authentic by using actual sounds like thunderstorm and birds from Lake Nabugabo in Uganda. Mother is another interesting piece, with added percussion, allowing for the song to be equally full of impact and genuine. Dam Ships create a sound that is relaxing, wistful and easy to listen to whatever you may be doing.
