Fugere.Poirier an artistic duo from Montreal looking to expand their horizons.

With successful careers and years of experience, these two artists continue to evolve and bring their music to a live audience.

Come January this powerful theatrical duet will bring something completely new and unique to the Emergenza Music Festival. Often associated with up & coming bands and other emerging artists, battle of the band events less often include a two artists who are such an artistically inclined and strong duo. This one, made up for Laur Fugere and Sylvain Poirier will most definitely bring something new to the stage and set the tone of the entire evening.

Working on different scale then a many of the bands taking part in the festival, Fugere.Poirier have been playing music together for a long time. They both sing and play a variety of instruments each, including guitars and mandolins. These two singers/songwriters and all around artists offer their audience a serving of urban folk with a dash of country.  They have played venues across Montreal and aside from their duo project, they each have successful careers including working with Cirque de Soleil. Currently, they are working on recording a couple of new pieces.

Their musical performance is matched by the theatrics one can expect from a live show. The songwriting is superb and they way in which it is vocalized in the songs really brings their music ‘alive’ and allows the listener to feel as though they are a part of it. The videos for a few of their songs are an excellent promotional touch and I enjoyed seeing Tu m’fais rire’ as a story told aside from just a performance. The song for me was enhanced by the addition of a percussionist, something which gives the sound a new dimension. It’s going to be a lot of fun having these two artists playing in the festival.
