Not new to the Montreal music scene, or the Emergenza Music Festival for that matter, Audiocassette is a group of guys from Montreal who have been part of the city’s music scene since 2002. As an emerging band they’ve taken part in a number of local and international battle of the band contests and have also played many of their own shows at various events in different venues across the city. They will be starting their Emergenza journey this season with a show on January 5th at O Patro Vys.
In an age where many have no idea what an Audiocassette is, it’s good to have a band bring that name to the forefront. These guys have, very creatively, used an audiocassette on the cover of their upcoming EP “Fade Away”. This super retro image should totally catch the eye of fans, both current and potential, and work as a built in promotional tool for the band. What am image that album cover will make on your iPad once you purchase and play the EP!
Audiocassette are an alternative rock band with all of the elements one would expect from such a band. Towers Above really showcases the singer’s vocal versatility and rage – his voice deepens and climbs high at various intervals in the song and we even get a glimpse of his ability to execute the metal growl. The remaining musicians are very committed to their pieces and each melody, harmony and section is ironed out to near perfection. While this type of attention to detail is often lacking in up & coming bands, these guys have been at it for a long time and know exactly what they’re doing.
