Tulips, Our Matriarch and Thunderous Rock...
Ottawa Final Round
Victoria Day weekend or May Two Four as its called in Canada also serves as the weekend Ottawa hosts its yearly tulip festival but it wasn’t all flowers and flags at Maverick’s this Saturday night as the final of the Emergenza Festival took place and Ottawa’s hockey team clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday night.
All in attendance for the Ottawa city final were treated to a host of bands from a number of different scenes.
Third Eye took the stage first and in prog-rock fashion began tearing it up instrumental style.
Tomorrows Downfall got aggressive and played an emotional set knowing the last evening of the festival was upon them.
Euphorium ground through another rocky set in loud and signature scratchy style.
Female fronted Harmonic Distortion pushed the envelope for the final and took the stage by storm blasting through their tightest set to date.
Alloyed plundered the rock world in blazing style riffing through some of their best and laying down thick bass lines.
Alyss one of the most interesting bands of the Ottawa final this year created a circus feel with their on again off again time signatures and overall anarchic stage antics got things instantly wild.
Young guns First Chosen pushed on through their pop-punk set letting the sound resound loosely around.
Aggressor made use of the name and Bob’s skills on guitar to secure the win, metal mania!
Symphony In The Stairwell wrapped it all up with an effort that thrilled the ladies in the house, good songwriting skills but I think the tulips had bloomed about the second song in.
Congrats to the winners of the division as well as the Ottawa finals … Aggressor bring it home...
