Montreal in high style!
First weekend of 2nd step shows at Petit Campus
Thursday, March 15th
Human Chaos screamed their way into rare form, followed by their personal film crew. They opened the quarterfinal round with deadly death core.
Ripping through their set of stellar hard core End Of Crisis, threw down on the stage at Petit Campus to whip the audience into an early frenzy.
Oursens, Franco alt-rock act livened things up and made it apparent that this set was important in breaking their name into this Montreal venue.
Le Rock Band seemed a little caught off guard by the fervor that had filled the room previous to their set, but nevertheless played blisteringly good blues rock tunes abbreviated by a shout out to the separatist party. Rock can be so political…
Stain On Society once again brought the pain and discovered that it’s not only Sherbrooke that supports their metal style, but Montreal does as well.
Friday, March 16th
Opening the evening was Down Von Day, once again the young guys put together a set of partly new material and made modern-rock the alternative Friday night. Face First local alt-punk-rock outfit have tightened up their act since last round and played a very energetic show.
Sunset Drivers always the composite musicians played funky-rock tunes to the admirer’s in front of the stage.
Killroom switched it up a little with metal style and a female vocalist, seems they always gets the fans gathered close to catch a glimpse.
Veeto made their return once again rumbling through a punk-rock Franco flavored garage rock set.
Grand Life again brought down the house in grand style to the fanfare of the audience Petit Campus came alive once more…
Saturday, March 17th
Saturday found Nate Escape grooving through some retro-classic-rock style tunes to begin what was to be a cold evening at Petit Campus.
Uprising Eternal launched into a raging metal set to probably the largest collective audience of the evening.
Brutal Ambush once again used a forceful rock-metal but light-handed approach to their set as the audience decided if they wanted music or to disappear into the St. Patrick’s Day night.
One Night Stand are a young group that play traditional rock tunes and tonight was no different aside from the now emptying venue they hardly kept it together. Mathias Mental is the moniker that the Former Rock Bottoms singer is now going by. Art rock, performance art, or indie pop artist.. You decide.
Sound Asleep are pretty much the only instrumental metal band in Montreal that uses live propane tanks for percussion, good sound, bad turnout.
Sunday, March 18th
Sunday Bloody Sunday, the limited bands made for an intimate gathering and the vibe was a bit grainy. It was a bit like a slow motion high 8 film reel with an unfinished soundtrack. Nevertheless, Triton played their own super technical over instrumentalised soundtrack set.
Creamy Cocumbers laid down an indie-alt rock cluster.
Refrost brought punk rock and Gridbias played their alternative stylings to the once again sparse audience.
Well Petit Campus, ciao for now.
