Justine Wahlin, an artist with a memorable sound and presentation.

A touching yet upbeat live performance from a talented singer/songwriter with a fantastic fan following.

While very popular in mainstream music, I always find the indie/up & coming music scene lacking in female talent. That’s what makes artists like Justine Wahlin a true treasure during a battle of the bands concert just about worldwide. In the case of Justine, she took this opportunity and ran with it, taking first place during her semi final show with the Emergenza Festival at the Factory Theater.

In a very poetic and mellow way, Justine’s music is moving and insightful. She herself plays the acoustic guitar and is accompanied by a variety of instruments, including, most recently a violin and percussion. She has an amazing range in her vocals and each song showcases this in its own unique way. I was particularly taken by the arrangements and songwriting for Anger. Perfect example of Justine’s vocal range and the inclusion of the violin underlines the emotion of the song.

Justine’s success isn’t just based on her music, taking a look through her musical social forum profiles, her commitment is evident – her and the band are already promoting their final show at the Metro in December. Combined with their talent, this kind of band marketing will see them well into the future.
