Westbend is a year old project originally launched by Kenneth Barshop and James Branch. The songwriter and drummer met through school and began sessions together which led to the playing of original songs written by Kenneth. Replacing members of an old band, Kenneth went on to join Branch and Marcelo Ramirez to become "Patterson" the novice trio with advanced song-writting yet little experience. After 4-6 months of practice, the band picked up their final member, Louis Davila, and changed their name to "Westbend" in September of 2005.
Westbend is rapidly growing in popularity in local areas around San Antonio, as proved in their sucess in the first round of the festival.
