Teague's varied set lists include rock, upbeat pop, lounge jazz, and country-folk. His songs have interesting chord structures and bass lines, and are melodic with rich back-up harmonies. Teague is compared to Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr., Dave Mathews, Train, David Gray, REM, and John Mayer.
Teague was born in Atlanta, spending his summers on his grandparents' farm in South Georgia. It was there that his musical journey began with influences including Willie Nelson, the Beatles, Phil Collins, and the Eagles. Teague wrote his first song on the piano at the age of 12. He migrated to singing and performing his original jazz songs on the piano in high school. To this day, he credits Frank Sinatra and Harry Connick, Jr. as his greatest influences. College brought other influences ranging from Creed to Alison Krauss.
Teague took a hiatus from college in 1999 and moved to Germany to tour solo. He played in numerous pubs and jazz clubs throughout Western Europe. His music was well received, gaining many fans and receiving great reviews. He returned to Texas Tech University a year later to complete his degree.
Teague became an officer in the US Marine Corps upon graduation from Tech. He served honorably in Iraq, Liberia, Haiti, Djibouti, and Albania; he was awarded several medals for his outstanding leadership and contributions. After four years in the Marines, he moved back to Texas to continue his music career.
He began playing the Austin singer/songwriter scene and quickly won recognition as a promising local artist. He played and won competitions at Fado Prize Mic, Ruta Maya, Trophy's, and the Cactus Room. He now performs with his band and sings with the Monster Big Band. The next phase of his music career is focused on playing with his band in Texas clubs and festivals.
Teague is dedicated to building his strong core fan base, as is evident by his monthly newsletter, regular e-mail fan correspondence, and street team called the Teagsters. As his career advances, he will pour his own support back into his community, supporting Austin musicians. This veritable "Southern Frank Sinatra" is the next great artist to come out of Austin, Texas--the Live Music Capital of the World.
