TOP STORIES
With influences as diverse as Mozart, Skinny Puppy, Linda Ronstadt and Brian Wilson, Buffalo-based band VacancY has found a way to meld each of the members’ personal styles into a cohesive sound that is best classified as uniquely theirs.

The history of the band is similar to many others. In 1997, four guys from four bands decided to get together and make some music. Their singer left after a year, but the remaining three pushed on. After a 9-month break, the band regrouped in 2000 under the name VacancY. More member changes resulted in the current roster of Tim Dube, Dave Mauzy, and Paul Olzcak. While VacancY’s history might sound familiar, the group’s music does not. Spanning multiple musical styles, this highly talented group produces a unique blending of metal and soul, gothic and punk, and old-fashioned rock in each of their original songs. From dulcet to driving and sonic to soothing – with a little bit of everything else thrown in for fun – VacancY takes listeners on a wild trip of fantasy, angst, love and metal unlike any other.
