Rev Your Engines for the New Release by High Sergeants

Hear the latest blues-infused hard rock tunes from Turin band the High Sergeants

Turin band High Sergeants have gone through a whirlwind of activity in the last couple of years since their formation in 2010. Following the release of their debut EP in the summer of 2012 the band played a string of local shows and festivals, winning the semi-final in the Torino Sotterranea competition and 4th place in the Scoreboard Not Just Rock competition. On the heels of those performances the guys were offered gigs at major venues in the Turin scene, including Alcatraz and Acqua. The boys christened the band the High Sergeants in honor of their revved up, on stage energy—and true to their name, they aren’t settling down any time soon. The groovy blues-rock tunes they were writing when they just started out are shifting into the blues-infused hard rock one-twos on their latest release. Their songs stick to power pop structures, but are tempered with raw, edgy vocals, gritty blues riffs—paying homage to bands like AC/DC and the Stones—and are all set to super dynamic rhythm sections that just make you want to get up and dance. The singer can get saucy, like in the verses of “Feral Plot”, which is a nice, moody contrast to songs like “Roaming” where the band showcases their ability to write high energy, sing along chorus’. If these songs don’t get stuck in your head, you need to clean the wax out of your ears. The EP was recorded at OneBlackSock Studio in Turin. All songs are in English and can be streamed on the band’s Soundcloud. These days the boys in High Sergeants—drummer Federico, guitarists Stephen and Luke, and bassist Orlando—are holed up in their newly finished home studio concentrating on composing. They've had a great run so far in Emergenza Festival Italia and are now gearing up to go to the regional finals at the prestigious venue Hiroshima Mon Amour. You’re not going to want to miss them again, so stay tuned to Emergenza.net for more details on the show.
