Salbora: Sweeping Us Off Our Feet

The brand new EP from Salerno band Salbora will charm you with its powerful Italian rock ballads and top-notch musicianship

Like their name suggests Salbora is like a gush of wind that will sweep you off your feet if you don’t look out. The band’s name comes from the word local fishermen in Salerno use to call the Northwest wind. Started back in the summer of 2010 Salbora hit the ground running, releasing their first single to great success. With over 15 thousand views on YouTube, the single “Angelo e Diavolo” is a perfect example of their former fun loving, rough-around-the-edges, 80’s inspired sound. With the recent change up of the band’s frontman as well as their label, Salbora is treading new territory in the Italian rock scene. Taking on a more somber tone, cleaner guitars, and soft percussion to fill out their sound, the new three-song EP, recorded at Darkuba Records in Salerno, is a total knock out. Every song on it could be a hit, but undoubtedly the stand out single on the EP is “Portami Via”. The video clip shot for the single does perfect justice to the epic, sentimental ballad all about the power young love has to take away the pain and frustration that life so often serves up. Check it out here. The five components of the band are: Antonello Pingaro on vocals, Anthes on guitar, Pasquale “Pepe” Romano on guitar, Claudio “Luli” Mencherini on bass, and Danilo “Bond” Romano on drums. Salbora takes these brand new songs to the stage at Mumble Rumble in Salerno for the regional finals of Emergenza Festival Italia where they’ll battle it out alongside other local bands in an attempt to get to the national finals of the competition. It’s going to be a great show, so don’t miss out. Stay tuned to Emergenza.net for more show info.
