    Forceful Four-Song EP from MAìTA

This band from Milan puts together their diverse musical ideas into a four-song EP where Italian singer songwriter meets rock meets funk

Founded only in January of last year, Milan band MAìTA released their first three-song EP and are already onto bigger and better things with their latest four-song demo, which they gave us private access to. On the demo, MAìTA freely mixes their diverse musical backgrounds to form a unique rock-funk-Italian singer songwriter crossover sound. They get their name from the Spanish female name Maìte (pronounced similarly to the English word mighty), which is supposed to represent strength and determination, and this forceful quality definitely comes out right from the start in the opening track on the album “Fino alle Nuvole” (“Up to the Clouds”), whose slow, melancholy build up makes the full-on, funky chorus section just that much more of a surprise. “Qualcosa in più” definitely shows off the edgier side of their sound, with the grungy, funky guitar and the coolness in the vocals. Overall, the expert lyrical flow adds to the already strong pop base of the songs on the album and makes for a really enjoyable listening experience. Totally heartfelt songs. Their traditional rock four-piece set up includes Alessandro “Libe” on vocals, Alessio on guitar, Giovanni on bass, and Patrick on drums. They hit the stage at The Speakeasy in Milan last month, where they put on a killer performance for Emergenza Festival Italy. If you like rock, then you’ll love MAìTA.
