Out of a Burst of Creativity Comes ‘Kili di Follia’

The massive 16-track album from singer songwriter Massimiliano Salani comes out of a fury of creative energy

It was during a burst of creativity for singer songwriter Massimiliano Salani from Livorno who wrote all 16 of the tracks on his new album Kili di Follia in just a matter of a few short months with the help of friend and sole collaborator Roberto Fioretti. Max’s songwriting modus operandi is to seek out the perfect musical ambience to convey his words, and the result is a rich musical landscape that changes at the drop of a hat from a colorfully harmonic Beatles to a dreamy Pink Floyd, but always with the unique Italian pop voice of Max at the forefront, who uses vivid metaphors to explore life and love. The stars on the album are definitely the virtuosic keys (ranging from organ to synth) and the soulful guitar, which really lets loose at the end of the title track. The album was totally self-produced and released in June of last year, which was only the first step. In order to interpret the rich instrumentation on the album in a live format the sole singer songwriter needed a group, and thus was born Il Complesso di Max, which includes super multi-instrumentalist Massimiliano Salani (Max) on piano, synth, organ, and vocals; Giampiero Morici on guitar; Christophe Vallet on bass; Alessandro Matteucci on drums; and Emmanuele Modestino on guitar, synth, and backing vocals. These top-notch musicians take to the stage at The Cage in Livorno later this month where they battle it out in the semifinals of Emergenza Festival Italia. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear the inspired tunes of Il Complesso di Max. Stay tuned to Emergenza.net for more info on the show.
