Florentine solo-artist Sara B. calls her debut self-titled release an EP, but in reality, it’s a full-length indie release, with ten super solid songs that will have you wondering why you’ve never heard of this chick before. She takes some inspiration from Jessie J and Annie Lennox, but makes no bones about being exactly who she is and no one else. She’s got a set of pipes on her, too—perfect for her genre of Italian power pop—and a definite idea of who she is as an artist. You will fall in love with the message she sends about just being who she is and letting the rest of the world, well, f*** off, like in “A voi la parola” ("Your turn to speak") where she jokes about turning up the volume on her stereo to drown out the chattering and gossiping around her. Real girl power with attitude. “Libro magico” will get your body bumping with its funky guitar licks and hip hop inspired vocals, whereas the much softer “Luce e aria” will play your heartstrings. Overall this debut release is a full spectrum pop experience. Sara B. was recorded in Art Studio 53 outside of Florence by Franco Poggiali Berlinghieri, who helped Sara B. with the arrangements. Aside from that, she writes all of her own music and lyrics. If this is the kind of material she’s producing right out of the gates, there’s no mistaking that Sara B. has a very long road ahead of her as a recording artist. Come and be a part of her musical journey when she hits the stage at Viper Theatre in Florence in May for the semifinals of Emergenza Festival Italia. Stay tuned to Emergenza.net for more details on the show!
