If the tattooed mermaid sitting under the full moon light on the cover isn’t enough to get your attention, then it will be the six standout songs on the debut EP My Love for You from Padua group Angels in Hell. If you think that sounds like a sappy mess, you’re wrong. Only the title track on the album is a slow, moody romantic ballad. The rest of the songs are rockers. The guitar tone the band uses could have walked off a Guns N’ Roses album, whereas their song structures tell a tale of their influences from the 80’s and 90’s, anything from Motörhead to the Hellacopters, to Alice in Chains. Track five “Utopia” is a perfect example of their get-you-going style blues riffs and tight drumming. On “The Day Kisses the Night” the singer really lets loose in this nineties feeling melody, the drummer battles back trying to prove he’s the real star on the album, until the blues guitar comes in to shut them all up. You can check out a video for “Travel” on YouTube. Shot in black and white on a sound stage, this video adds an even cooler dimension to an already super catchy rock and roll tune. The EP came out in March 2013. All songs are in English. Angels in Hell started back in 2011 with Riccardo Benfatti on guitar and was solidified with the addition of Mirko Carnevali on vocals, Marco Zerbinati on bass, and Marco Pretti on drums. These guys are out gigging to promote their new release, and even won first place in the Ballabellradio Festival in Misano. They just rocked the stage at The Factory in Padua for Emergenza Festival Italia. Stay tuned to Emergenza.net to here more news about the band.
