    Album Preview from Facco&SteamFolk

Compelling tales set against a backdrop of rich folk instrumentation is what’s in the works for the upcoming album by Facco&SteamFolk

If you know anything about the folk scene in Genoa, then you’ve heard of Andrea Facco. He adamantly puts his unique singer songwriter stamp on everything he does, including the upcoming album from his new group Facco&SteamFolk. His five-song solo EP gives a pretty good idea of what he’s all about as an artist. He uses his warm baritone voice—making him sound wise to the world not to mention about 15 years older than his fresh faced 25 years—to weave moving folk tales throughout his rich instrumentation, most notable for his use of bouzouki and harmonica. The bouzouki is reminiscent of the banjo in timbre and gives an Irish vibe to what are otherwise European traditional style songs. “Ishtar” on the EP is perfect example of how Andrea manages to melt the whole world into a three and a half minute folk song. There’s a magic about his songs that makes the listener feel like he’s on a timeless voyage around the world. This one just happens to be about traveling the world. SpazioTempo, the massive 11-track album in the works from the artist’s new group Facco&SteamFolk fuels the fire his solo material started and incorporates an even richer landscape of folk and ethnic instruments. Facco&SteamFolk are: singer songwriter Andrea Facco on vocals, bouzouki and harmonica, Giulio Gaietto on bass, Enrico Bovone on percussion, and Giulia Capurro on backing vocals. The new album is being self-produced in the home studio of Giulio Gaietto as we speak. While you’re waiting for it to come out, drop by The Claque in Genoa to see Facco&SteamFolk perform live for the semifinals of Emergenza Festival Italia. We’ll update you soon on the exact date and time of the show, so stay tuned in to Emergenza.net.
