Promising Debut EP from Napoli Band FreedomLand

The moving three-song debut release entitled ‘Jimy’ is just the start for Napoli band FreedomLand

Imagine a place totally free of constraints, totally void of judgment, where you could be free to express yourself exactly the way you choose. Well, this is what the project FreedomLand symbolizes for the four musicians in the band—a safe place to explore their growing talent for songwriting. The band is from Napoli, but you wouldn’t know it by their music. Starting off playing covers of bands like Kings of Leon, Muse, The Killers, and Artic Monkeys it’s not surprising FreedomLand takes on a similar style of thoughtful modern riff rock with high on the neck guitar riffing and strong vocal melodies. “Run Girl”, the third track on their debut EP Jimy is a great example—there’s a little Coldplay vibe in the melody and the classic high-pitched guitar riffs, but with a far more gritty, garage vibe, very forceful lead vocals and free form vocal harmonies in the background. “Jimy” is its more somber counterpart, building up slowly in minor arpeggiation, and low post-grunge type vocals. Overall Jimy is a super promising debut release. The EP was recorded in Melito Studio in Napoli. All songs were written by Luigi Palma. Founded back in 2010 FreedomLand is made up of Luigi Palma on guitar and vocals, Alessandro Maruzzella on guitar and vocals, Carlo Tambaro on bass and Paolo Esposito on drums. The guys played back in January at Duel Beat in Napoli for Emergenza Festival Italia and are now on their way to the semi-finals of the festival. Check in at Emergenza.net for more details on their next gig. You won’t want to miss it.
