Four-Track Demo out by New Horizon

Out of a break up and into the studio, this Padua band’s new horizons take the form of a brand new four-track demo

After the break up of their old band, the main goal of the musicians in Over Rated was to look to new inspirations. This led them to name their new project New Horizon. They haven’t completely departed from their musical roots though, which come mostly from punk rock and pop punk including bands like Blink 182, Green Day, Sum 41, and Fall Out Boy. Formed in 2009 originally with just the drummer Michele and the guitarist Antonio, they slowly built up the current line-up, which includes bassist Gabriele and vocalist Diego. Despite the band’s temperamental relationship with the singer, they say it just wouldn’t be the same New Horizon without him. After busting their chops on local stages, finally in February of 2012 the band was contacted by ACTIONSTUDIO RECORDS to record and press their very first four-track EP. All of the songs on the demo EP (“Wasted Dreams”, “Miracle”, “Love Case”, and “After End”) are a perfect testament to where they get their inspiration. You can especially hear the influence of street punk in the base riffs and pop punk in their melodic, fast-paced guitar riffs. The themes they explore in their songs include apathy and complacence, like in their song “Wasted Dreams”, which warns of the danger of letting your dreams go. All of the songs are excellent anthems for a jaded youth middle class. Based on the success of their first release, the band’s fan base is on the upswing, and they’re now on a small regional tour. In between gigs, they’re continuing to work on new songs for an upcoming album. One of their next gigs is for Emergenza Festival Italia, where they are set to go on stage for the first round in Padua. Be sure to check them out if you’re in the area. We’ll update you with more details closer to the date of their concert, so stay tuned to Emergenza.net.
