Latest Release by Another Story: Due EP

Another Story busted serious chops playing live and are finally putting their minds to original material on the five-song EP Due

Like a writer at his typewriter Another Story continues to scratch out lines until they come up with the perfect way to tell their musical tale. They’ve had their ups and downs like most bands, but through it all they’ve managed to keep an almost unchanging lineup for about eight years—and they’re no geezers! All between the ages of 20 and 25, they’ve been playing together since some of them were only 16 years old. They’ve busted their chops on stage, playing classic rock covers of bands like Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and The Who. After honing their live show to a fine science, they finally set down to write some new, original material. The result: the five-song EP Due, recorded at Aemme, produced by Salvatore Addeo and released in October 2013. They say the experience in the studio was formative, the staff at Aemme helping the band to realize an almost fully analogic sound—based on their love of the 70’s—going so far as to record the tracks on tape. The title Due was chosen based on the text in the songs, where the band explores the idea of dualism. Some of the themes they explore are movement and stasis, as in “MSP”, and panic and peace, as in the closing track “L’ultima Alba Che Ho”. And they’ve got an incredibly full sound to back up the heady lyrics, incorporating two guitars, bass, drums, and keys into what they call a delirium of guitar riffs, synth solos, and epic chord progressions. Veterans to the Emergenza Festival, Another Story came back with a vengeance this year, rocking the Speakeasy stage in Milan. While you’re waiting to hear if they’ve made it through to the next round, go check out the new album at the band’s Facebook page. It’s well worth it.
