You need not wait any longer. Waiting Room, the debut EP from Milan band 2nd Class is out now, chock full of pop-punk anthems, powerful female vocals, great harmonies, and unforgettable guitar solos. Despite the band saying they all take influences from different genres, the musicians are extremely unified on the album. They have a tight, precise sound, heavily inspired by the pop punk of the 90’s as well as some melodic hardcore, which is always sweetened by the female vocals. Founded by the singer back in 2009, it took the band a couple of years to get the line up just right. As they stand now, they are: Manu on vox, Lollo and Gab on guitar, Maru on bass, and Andy on drums. In case you were wondering, the idea for the name came from a sticker the old guitarist took from a train and put on his guitar case: 2nd Class, and it fits them perfectly. None of them were born with a silver spoon in his mouth. They sing about middle class struggles in discovering who they are, where they fit into society, and young love. You’ll love the slightly more 80’s sounding song “Feelings” which shows off the guitarist’s riffing capabilities as well as their talents for constructing truly provocative melodies. The song “I Don’t Mind” could have stepped right out of a Blink 182 album from the band’s heyday and will totally win you over with it’s 90’s charm. 2nd class will win you over with their live show. We just got a chance to witness their explosive live performance for the Emergenza Festival in Milan. While we’re waiting to hear if they’ve made it to the next round, go give the new EP a listen on the band’s Facebook band page.
