Out Now Debut EP From SUPERCOLLIDER

SUPERCOLLIDER from Brescia are bringing the nineties back with their self-titled, four-song EP

SUPERCOLLIDER started experimenting back in 2010 with both acoustic and electric sounds, unique chord progressions, and alternate tunings in order to get the signature sound they have today—whose at times ethereal, at times melancholic, tendencies are always complimented by easy on the ear pop melodies. And they sum it all up on their self-titled, debut EP. The album opener “Sleeping Beauty” starts off with a mysterious sounding guitar riff, which is accented by harmonics and complimented by the singer’s breathy, raspy voice. The band takes tons of inspiration from the nineties, most notably in the songs “Thoughts Undone”, whose slow instrumental buildup and vocal stylings are evocative of bands like Live, as well as in “Same Old Me”, where the theme of hopelessness and no turning back fits the post-grunge genre to a “t”. The band closes out the album with the song “Under the Waves”, which perfectly epitomizes their love of contrast between the melancholic and the upbeat. It starts out with a slow, spacey electric guitar, before the drums and the vocals kick in—there’s a nice drum roll to add to the forward momentum—and then the song zooms into a bright, poppy chorus and a simple, reverb heavy guitar solo. All words on the album are in English and are written by Fabio Minari. SUPERCOLLIDER is a collision of the musical minds of guitarists Andrea Bastiani and Matteo Magatelli, drummer Giorgio Gabusi, and bassist and vocalist Fabio Minari. The new album is produced by Marco Zanotti and includes the efforts of Valerio Gaffurini on keyboard and Paolo Costola in the chorus. All tracks were recorded and mixed by Paul Rib at MacWave Studio in Brescia. They recently rocked the stage for the Emergenza Festival in Brescia. Stay tuned to Emergenza.net to hear if they made it through to the semi-finals!
