An incredible 3 days of music, fun and international music......The real Olympics. NAMASTE – PARIS (FRANCE) Namasté – ‘the divine in me greets the divine in you’ – is a journey from the Himalayas to Paris, and from Soul to Reggae passing through Jazz and Hip Hop. Gavroche started to write the first songs in Nepal and India. ‘Namasté’, ‘Pachoupati Baba’, ‘La Source’ are born in a rare acoustic atmosphere. He was bewildered by the magic of the Himalayas and the warm welcome of a humble yet incredibly happy people. Back in Paris, he continues to write. ‘Sorcière de l’amour’ (love witch), through which he talks about his love for Chloé, ‘Ces Pauvres Gens’ (The poor people) which calls for more interaction between have and have nots… Soon, he invites Marie, a friend, to join him as a chorus singer. Her soft and beautiful voice carries the songs further and makes her sound vital. Kenzo, a lifelong friend and piano player is the next member to sign up. His background in classical music and long for Trip Hop and Electro push Gavroche’s original creations away from roots/reggae to a more diverse and original mix: ‘Rêve’ and many other songs are thus created. Then comes Jules. Him and Gavroche had met on a stack of apples in Normandy, or so legend has it… Greatly influenced by his debut as a guitar player and his partaking in rock and Jazz bands, Jules bass lines often groove in the high notes. A great times, Gavroche and Jules meet in forests to write songs. ‘Sweet Sunshine’, ‘Firefly’ and ‘Dream Reality’ see the light of day. The band’s sound takes another step further with more Soul and Jazz tunes. Camille and Octavio, respectively drummer and cello player, are the next members to join the crew. Camille’s Hip Hop and Soul influences greatly add to the band’s sound; while Octavio’s crazy dances on stage make live performances quite amazing. In 2008, the band decides to focus intensively on touring. Over 50 gigs will follow: form the most intimate venues to La Boule Noire, Le New Morning, L’Elysée Montmartre… Thrilled, the band has won the French final of the Emergenza battle of the bands and will be playing the international final at the Taubertal Festival over the summer. Their first CD is currently being recorded and will be released in the fall, along with a video clip of its first single, “l’Absurde”.
