SYDNEY & ATLANTA UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT

A week end between 2 continents.

The sun sets gently on the sweet, flat land that surrounds Atlanta. For a moment you can almost forget this huge Georgia city, the real capital of the southern cities in North America. It''s the headquarters of a famous fizzy drink (sorry we say sodas like this in Europe) and another 10000 international firms, none of which do products that are actually good for us phisically nor they are for our mind and spirit. I''m here because I don''t want to lose the opening of the Emergenza festival 2007/2008. The place in question is in my opinion one of the coolest and nicest places in the world (and I''ve written from many cities and visited hundreds of clubs). The Vinyl, on Peachtree street. There are a few bands that caught my fancy and got the better of my curiosity before I even seen them: CURB OF LEONA with a friendly yet enticing acoustic rock pop or the great rock and roll tunes I heard on myspace from VERTIGO JONES (Great piece was insomnic, I suggest you go and listen to it). But on the other side of the ocean in the really far, far away new land (it is far for me, since I come from the old continent) that is Australia, the Semi finals are opening in Sydney as well. I decided then to go to Atlanta on Thursday and catch the first flight out so that I can see the semis in Sydney where by the way Saturday RaynCo are playing. A great acoustic band with tinges of reggae (just the thing to remind you of a great beach in Australia) or Aktor a solid rock band with a super tight rhythm section. So fresh they are they feel like a snow ball being chucked in your face. I will try and make the most of it and count my blessings that I am lucky enough to go from sunsets on the planes of Georgia to the bays of Sydney watching boats slowly come in. I will do my best to tell you all about this new festival from both sides of the world.
