STILLROOM What’s in the water in Dublin? Is it me, or all bands from there have got a great spirit? The nicest guys in Germany kicked off the Taubertal festival with a great set of pure rock and roll. Like Thin Lizzy before them (yes, there must be something in the water in Dublin) these guys showed us why the Irish are great at what they do... Sing! A solid band with a great front man that demonstrated that rock and roll’s not dead... It’s from Dublin and they proved it. MONOREV This group was a pleasant surprise. A band from Switzerland with an English singer? YEAH! These lads (with an Englishman on vocals) kicked serious pop arse. Melodies galore. These boys showed us how to play telecasters and blend great vocals at the same time. Great tunes, great stage presentation and all round perfect band…terrific!! NO ONE CARES All the way from Madrid, the home of soccer, comes a band with more balls (no pun intended) than anyone I’ve seen from the great country that is Spain. Hard rock the way it was intended. A solid drummer, a great bass player, good shredders and a singer with bigger lungs than all the “ready made” rock stars you find out there. Tight, solid and very entertaining. Simply great. METROVOX Chicago this year had the finest representatives we’ve seen in the past few years. Attitude, melodies and more attitude... and did I mention attitude? Beautiful arrangements (the best so far) mixed in with a pinch of what it takes to be fantastic. Speechless. A young band that will go far. MIRRAMAZE An eclectic band from Oslo. A cello player, an acoustic guitar and a rhythm section so tight that if felt waterproofed. Good tunes blended with great stage presence…a lethal combination. So pleasing it was to the eyes was the lead singer that girls were falling over when they kicked off. They managed the stage quite professionally with a good approach and a positive attitude. Very good. SUNSET DRIVERS Montreal comes alive!! The French Canadians know how to party on stage and party with the crowd they did. Old school rock mixed with a twist of irony. They commanded the stage like great consummate professionals. Good simple songs executed in a confident manner, we could all feel the vibe……Canada was in town. FÜR KERSTINS LETZTE A surprise from Munich. A bunch of guys that created the most beautiful atmosphere... a phenomenal front person that was very, very original and keyboards sounds that complimented the all round mood. Great tunes, great arrangements and the self-belief that only this band could show. Total coolness look-wise and sound -wise. Keep an eye on this young gang. You’ll be hearing more of these kids. THE NEW HOTNESS Ahhh... Los Angeles. The city of angels. This 3 piece looked like angels that came down to give us the message of rock and roll... fantastic look and stage presence with rock tunes to rip your face off. These boys had rock and roll in their veins and the blood red suits brought the passion out... fantastic, great, beautiful. Stunning!!
