Tampa Finals find a diamond in the rough!

Tampa’s final was the best its ever been on Sunday, June 24 2007, as 13 bands took the stage to rock Boomerz and its audience to the ground. Nothing was first up, and opened the show with a creepily entertaining set. With a slap bassist that actually knew what he was doing, and a singer that crept around on cans to add an err of mysteriousness to the set, it was thoroughly a great performance. Their Korn sound, and eerie sound affects added to their level of quality, and also showcased the talents of the drummer, who took home the prize for best drummer of the night. The new media was up next to perform in front of an already packed house. Though these guys are young, their age has no affect on their skill. Their fast-paced indie/punk sound was just the right thing to add to the atmosphere of the show. They handled their instruments extremely well, adding extreme tempo changes in the perfect places. Using great dynamics definitely made them stand out. Shades of Twilight executed a phenomenal show. With their set making a stand for 80’s metal, nothing about them was boring. Combining complex guitar solos with melodic rhythm guitar, while blasting double bass beats through the entire venue, and adding thumping bass guitar to the mix, they were a great band to watch. It was no surprise to anyone in the room when the lead guitarist took home the prize for best guitarist of the night. Retaliation showcased their lead singer’s amazing vocal range amazingly well. Though power metal isn’t a genre usually known for its vocal dynamics, Retaliation did a great job at breaking the stereotype. The guys thrashed everything on stage, including themselves, and put on a fantastic performance. Sacred Covenant used their spiritually moving lyrics and wonderful harmonies to wow the crowd. Unofficially chosen by a majority of the crowd as having the best vocals of the night, the sounds emitting from the vocal chords of the lead singer were nearly hypnotic; and the music was equally as impressive. They had no problem harmonizing any party of their set. Massacre Aid was cheered on by their fans as they rocked Boomerz as hard as they possibly could. The crowd loved seeing a band that used their high energy and great stage presence to their best advantage. Combining screams that curdled blood and break downs that moved bodies, this band put on a wonderful set full of great energy. The Seeds of Evolution, straight from Miami, brought something different to the lineup. The three piece hip-hop band had many people in the venue up on their feet and dancing. With their urban flare blended with true rock music… and even dabbling into funk, blues, and groove, they took the spotlight with grace. Their versatility and execution paid off when the bassist took home the prize for best bassist of the night. Caibel pleased the fans with their soothing rock melodies. Their alternative style added a nice contrast to the previous bands. Very talented, and full of passion for their art, they threw their souls into their set, and the crowd agreed. Baker Act, from Jacksonville, Florida, captivated the audience with their catchy, yet extremely meaningful and deep lyrics. Their punk rock, grunge rock, and metal influences made for a very uniquely interesting sound. With a beautiful front woman, and bassist that bounced around the stage with energy; a drummer that kept tempo like a human metronome, and guitarist that showcased his talents in every song, their set was unbelievable. Using versatility to their advantage, they easily had people dancing, and crying in the same show. Isn’t She Lovely, and all girl band from Florida, proved that you don’t have to have male band members to rock faces off. Their pop rock set was packed with energy, style, beautiful vocals, and wonderful instrumentals that had even the boys of the room moving around. Starting their set of strongly, with a c
