DENVER ON FIRE!
FINAL ROUND @ CERVANTES BAR
Lovebox kicked off the Denver final round at Cervantes: a solid grunge-rock band, ok energy, good transitions and really good guys to work with. Look out for these guys in the Denver area.
Then took the stage Aousma: a 4 piece instrumental band that is young and eager. A mix of progressive/hard-rock there is talent at the drums and lead guitar. Bad look and the music got a little sloppy, but they made it to the finals and hopefully they will continue to grow.
Falls Ruin has great energy and has shown growth at every show. Good lead vocals, good to work with, pretty good dynamics, ok transitions and good to work with. Great job with promotion and one of the hardest working bands in Denver for sure.
Vanadium hard rock band, tight music, ok transitions, vocals strain and the energy needs to be there more.
The Wheel took the stage next: amazing band for their age, great intro, great dynamics, great front man, great retro rock sound, very talented up front. The bartenders even came up to me to vote for these guys. Very mature on stage and off stage. Great support all around them and a very bright future.
Transient Sound, another young, very talented band. Great dynamics, tight musically, creative blues/rock sound, vocals continue to get stronger, good diverse sound and they really learned how to put a real set together.
Up next were The Wandering. This band had the best rhythm section of the night, vocals are weak but very eclectic. Music is very solid and refreshing. The band needs more energy and a better look to help compliment their music.
The Old Milwaukees is the most improved band from the 1st show to the finals. Great to work with, a good power-pop-punk sound, good mainstream look and sound, vocals continue to get stronger.
Lift & 48 Hours followed: a solid jazz-funk group with lots of talent at every part. Good dynamics, great look, lots of attention to detail, but the music doesn’t hit as hard as it could. Great people to work with, great job overall.
Phocus had a great sound, that hits hard and goes down smooth, vocals are excellent and the music is explosive and still dynamic. Lots of maturity, good transitions and the whole set was very well thought out.
Up next, Bearze, Aleion & Joy C had great energy and amazing stage presence. One of the best hard working bands in Denver, great to work with and their music definitely has great appeal.
Then took the stage Sol Villa, a great young band, good energy, unique/diverse sound, good dynamics, but their energy caused them to get a little sloppy this time. Great job overall.
Every Last Word had been drinking since 3pm, by their own admission, so the set wasn’t everything it could have been.
