NOAH BUILDS ARK IN DALLAS:
TAKES ROCK TO HEAVEN
Rain, rain, go away... No, seriously. Go away. The weekend was wet, but the sun shined on the awesome bands in the Curtain Club!
Thursday’s balls dropped early, as LastIIFall tore into the crowd with steel talons of metal. The guttural vocals seemed to come from somewhere dark inside his soul, and the guitar, bass and drums created a cacophonous sound unlike any heard this night! This drummer was a monster…
Blarney Street Hooligans lit the fuse for Celtic-infused punk. The vocals exclaimed, “Fook You, I’m Drunk” and the fiddle got the early drinkers lively on their feet. This is a fun band to hear and to watch!
A roller coaster of metal goodness hit the tracks at top speed with Embrace the Embers in the front seat screaming. The melodic metal was powerful and exciting, and the crowd at Curtain Club got into it.
Fuji definitely stepped it up from the first round, with a funky, soulful, rockin’ band backing some serious skills on the mike. Paper Camp rep for Dallas!
The final band for Thursday was Tongue, with a versatile set of rock stretching from 90s power movement to reggae-ska riffs. The crowd was back on its feet and rocking to this boisterous three-piece.
I’m telling you, this rain is dominating. Friday’s supersoaker of funk was blasted by none other than Liquid Bounce, dropping some serious conscious lyrics on the early crowd at Curtain Club. The band was tight and jazzy, with a sexy sound that started the night off perfectly.
M. Jelani Brooks kept the vibe flowing with an outstanding instrumental jazz and funk blend. The use of the guitar processor with the saxophone was innovative and fresh, and gave a new face to some fabulous original sounds. The Curtain Club played host to more soulful sounds tonight that Dallas has seen since Badu.
Jennifer Kristen Carson Band led the transition into the rock element for tonight with a great set of original pop-acoustic rock with some really pure vocals and catchy tunes. This is a set for all ages to enjoy!
Backseat Forward kicked it into high gear with a great modern rock sound for the growing crowd at Curtain Club. The intricacies of the guitars floated over steady bass and drums, and backed powerful vocals perfectly. The sound was catchy and solid!
Borderline was next up, and played a set of Northwestern influenced grunge that was real and unadulterated by pop culture. The vocals were reminiscent of Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins and the three piece really lit it up!
From the Woods completed our transition to hard rock with grace and finality, rocking the Curtain Club with fervor. The guitars were intense, and the stage presence got the crowd off their asses and into the show. Great job, and congrats on the new twins!!!
If a level 56 Night Elf hunter wanted to rock out to some stellar jams, then I know he would pick up Twenty3Fifty9’s upcoming album (check out t359.com for more details). This is epic rock at its greatest, and the powerful vocals sealed the deal. This story of love and faith and conspiracy is incredible, especially when packed into twenty-five minutes. Bravo! Cleatus Blackfoot closed the night with a powerful set. “That’s that bullllllshit!”. This set was capped with outstanding stage presence and crowd interaction that got everyone on their feet and was the perfect ending to Friday’s show!
Saturday started strong, with an energetic crowd and a lack of precipitation the previous two nights were cursed with. Three Fold Cord started it off with a passionate rock with a positive message, and the crowd loved it! The vocals were strong and the hooks plentiful and it was the perfect start to the night.
Fire for Hire was next to rock the house, and did so with authority. The female lead was strong and the st
