Houston kicks it into high gear at Fitzgerald's

Many styles, genres and cliques past through this weekend of great music, from the indie and scene kids to the metal headbanger, and they all came with one focus: get an overdose of some of Houston’s finest new music! Braswell kicked things off in style, with an indie sound in the vein of The Killers and Radiohead. The sound was catchy and fulfilling and the early crowd at Fitzgerald’s really loved it! The songs were thought provoking and solid. Androide’s set was equally entrancing, spilling over a bucket of electronic rock that covered the audience like fresh paint. This instrumental group broke the barriers with force! The third band of the night was Until Dawn, bringing a mix of mainly instrumental heavy metal with a taint of vocals just right for the set. This “jam metal” was really intense and showcased some really powerful guitar work. The entire set was enough to make your head explode! Breed Society was next to rock the house, and rock it they did! The set was full of powerful hooks and stellar work from this three piece band. I also have to give it up to these first four for covering a lot of extra time on this night, stretching out their sets to cover some bands that dropped. Kudos! Next we dropped something that sounded like Jack Johnson drunk and jaded, mixed with GNR and Tone Def All-Stars… That being H-Town Breakdown. The spiritual liquor they spilled on stage was strong, with steady beats and a beer-minded set. The drinking crowd, as well as the few sober people left, dug the shit outta these guys! The Brian Pounds Band wrapped up the night in great fashion, with a happy, poppy sound reminiscent of Hootie & the Blowfish. The songs created a feel-good atmosphere, giving the crowd at Fitzgerald’s a great vibe to take home. Friday night kicked off with the soaring rock sounds of Another Run. This set was really dynamic, with some outstanding modern-rock vocals from the drummer and a lot of sound for a three-piece band. Their music was tasty and tight, and the stage presence was second to none! Life to Lifeless was next to fire up the crowd, and that they did with an outstanding set of alternative metal. The vocals were on the melodic tip with just the right amount of metal growl, and the band was tight! Regressive Memory showed their veteran Emergenza skills with a powerful set of originals, taking the crowd at Fitzgerald’s on a modern rock ride of their life. They definitely got the crowd excited! C-Hines & Purpose was next up, and brought a fatigued crowd to their feet, dancing and smiling all during their set. I think they reached some folks tonight with their positive message mixed into a funky, soulful R&B sound uniquely their own! Our next band to grace the stage was none other than Swinging Teresa. They brought a hard-rock element to the night, with interactive stage presence and ballsy, solid sound. They stepped up with authority, and showed why they are a top band in Houston! Green Devon came balls out for their set, no holds barred. The vocals were intense, and the guitars intricate. These guys definitely got Fitzgerald’s pumped! The night was complete after an energetic set from Inzurgo. This revolution-on-wheels rocked the house with the fire of the gods, bringing a ten-ton hammer to the crowd at Fitzgerald’s. They really tore through their set, anointing the heads of the crowd with the fires of insurgence. Excellent… The third night was a party straightaway, with the delicious punk sounds of Mom Walks In There wasn’t any cake, but we definitely got punch-ed from some power chord originals. The stage presence was perfect to fire the crowd at Fitzgerald’s up! Psychosis was next. Adlai (add-lie) was next to groove the crowd, and they brought out a melodic three-piece featuring drums, acoustic guitar and keys,<
