SEATTLE IN HIGH STYLE!

Semi-Finals at Studio 7

Sixteen years ago Seattle changed the landscape of music (for better or for worse) for the entire world. Sixteen years later local musicians are still doing some incredible things in Seattle. My thanks to Studio 7 for supporting and promoting local music. We’ve got 4 days of shows to run down and 12 bands for our final show on June 16th. Wednesday, April 11th A quick night of music but lots of intensity helped to guide this week of music. First up Seven Shades of Anger, a good hard rock band with an old school sound. These guys are tight musically, had a good intro and good dynamics all night long. More strength with the lead vocals and stage presence will help these guys in the finals. T.I.M.O.D. is a pop-punk/power pop band. These guys were a little hesitant but they had a really powerful drummer that helped to drive the music. More work on their stage presence and lead vocals is needed, but before the finals they should be able to grow and get better and better. Sea Jane Trip was the best band of Wednesday night. They were very polished and mature with their sound. Great lead vocals, and strong instrumentation will definitely get these guys far in the Seattle scene. Harsh was a punk-hard rock band with tight music and pretty good vocals. Good drummer but more work interacting with the audience will help these guys on stage. Thursday, April 12th A more up-tempo night for sure. From start to finish these Seattle area bands really stepped up the excitement and energy for the semi-finals. Guerilla Mind Society was a terrific band with lush instrumentation and good vocals. They are a metal band with great accessibility for a more hard rock audience. Great lead guitars, great bass player and a very inventive drummer. Love the diversity of their sound and hope our shows really get them the exposure they deserve. Demur was a rock-punk-grunge band that started a little slow but finished well. Frankfurt 11 has great energy and passion for their music. Strong vocals with an old school hard rock sound. Better dynamics and just smoothing out the little things should really help propel these guys in the Seattle area. Great band to work with and with the best for these guys when the get deployed later this year. Darkness Stole the Sky is a thrash-metal band with lots of screaming vocals and crazy guitar riffs. Very explosive for their entire set. Good luck in the future guys. Caligua just two members strong, but their experimental music has some great potential. Good luck in the future guys. Friday, April 13th All you need to know about that night was Friday the 13th was the basis for all the intensity from every band. A huge crowd and amped bands for everyone to enjoy. First up, Nether, a good hard-rock band, with melodic/strong vocals that really got the music going. The music was tight, two good guitar players, but better dynamics is needed and so is more interaction with the crowd. However, a great way to start the night musically. Thanks for the hard work guys. Black Sovereignty might be one of the most explosive bands I’ve ever seen. Huge vocals, crazy loud music with scary aggression. These guys need a little polishing around the edges, but they should be able to make tons of new fans with their stage presence and intensity. Minds of Misery was the hardest working band of the entire weekend. Bringing fans from all over, this metal band has only played 3 shows to date. They have good interaction with each other on stage, with the crowd, they have good energy and strong vocals. Great to meet these guys and looking forward to seeing them in the finals. Los Fancy Ladz had the hardest act to sell of any band. A hip-hop group surrounded by a bunch of metal heads, but the stage presence and dedication to making fun/inspiring music really got the crowd involved. I love that these gu
