Interview with Atrest, melodic metalcore from Tucson
The Road to the Finals
How did you get to play together?
"We all ended up as friends while in other bands and after some previous bands didn''t work out and we all just hung out anyways we all started writing music".
How would you describe the music of Atrest – which is your feature in the metal universe?
"The music of Atrest blends our many different influences and different genres that we listen to, basiclly were metalcore with a lot of melody".
How and why you decided to take part in Emergenza International Festival?
"They sent us an email via myspace to take part in this international festival, so we read up on Emergenza and decided that it would be a great opportunity and a good source of promotion for us".
What the Emergenza experience means for you, and do you think Emergenza changed something in your local music scene?
"Emergenza has been a real great help to this band by creating a stepping stone for us to get our music out to the music scene of different cities. Definitely yes, people are actually starting their own bands in our hometown due to the influence of Atrest and accomplishments".
Did you expect to win the national final or what else? And for now: do you think the number of your fans has grown up since you’ve played on the Emergenza stages?
"We hope to reach the finals as one of our main goals but otherwise, we''d be deeply content with Emergenza’s support. Our music is definitely being spread across our state and our fan base Is Increasing!!".
Any special comment/thank you about the Festival?
"For sure a special thanks to Nicholas, our Emergenza Representative and to the bands we played with at the last Emergenza concert".
More projects for the future and for your music?
"We expect to pursue in many projects in the music industry and to progress with our talents and music compositions".
