SUPER SPRING WEEKEND BANDS HOWL AT SF FULL MOON
The Rockit Room Racks Up Astronomic Second Round Shows
Thursday, March 29th
A Place To Call Home opened the night, returning from 1st round with a brand spanking new song, “White Rose”.
Mouth To Mouth played tracks from their CD/DVD, “My Fee Is Lust”. MTM came in 1st place. Congrats, guys.
El Zakador, is a four piece indie rock band from San Francisco and Zack played acoustic guitar and sang lead. With a great round of applause, El Zackador will go on to the Semi’s.
Next, Quantum Beat performed an electronic set with Bjork-like flavoring. Savor the flavor when they appear at the Semifinal Round.
Xymphoni were a six-piece funky Bay Area blues band that opened the set with an outrageous rendition of “Funky Good Time”. Be on the lookout for a future Xymphoni set at your favorite Bay Area R ‘n’ R venue
Friday, March 30th
Opened with a three piece acoustic act, Stitchcraft, consisting of violin, mandolin, and drum set, that included a rousing feature on tabla.
Roase, an SF rock band, fired up the crowd with volume and their veteran rock entourage. Their motto is “Rising from the ashes below, the band for a new century”. Hear them at the Semifinals.
Davine featuring Damien Carter, is a four piece Soul band from San Jose, CA, with smooth R & B vocals, shredding lead guitar, and a slamming bass player. They closed their set with an original tune, “Movin’ and Groovin’” and moved on to the Semifinal rounds.
Vicious Groove, a five piece funky Soul band, had a wireless connection to the Rockit Room’s electric atmosphere, and took their music to the people on the floors, tables and almost to the ceiling.
Triple Ave, at number one for the night, is a Hip-Hop spectacle, led by an electric harpist, a DJ, guitar, bass, and three front persons, from Boston, St. Louis and the Bay Area respectively. Congratulations on taking first place for the Second Round.
13 Inches, a four piece comedy rock act, brought a different perspective to the night as they closed out the set.
Saturday, March 31th
Sean O’Brien and His Dirty Hands is a four piece alternative rock band that closed their set with a cover of “Amanda Ruth”.
The Devil Himself, followed, bringing a four piece progressive metal band from Santa Cruz, CA that included two shredding guitar players, and front men vocals that emitted a glowing red hue. Congrats to Old Scratch, for moving on to the Semifinals. The Young Has Beens is a six-piece indie-pop band whose original songs went over well due to the catchy titles, e.g., “Bathtub Jesus”.
Relapse from San Jose, CA is a three piece rock band, and used the Heil Talk Box plus their funky rock styling to capture the number one slot for the evening’s round. Congratulations to Relapse.
Ruby Sparking Chambers are a three piece electronic-rock band that used loops, drum machines, two female front persons, and a guitar shredder to send shockwaves through the night air, and will return for the Semifinal Round.
The last band of the night was The Spins, a four piece pop-rock band, new to the Bay Area. The Spins are a keyboard and vocal fronted band, who played original songs, with a new guitarist in their lineup.
Emergenza returned these three nights to the Rockit Room, like a March Lion, and brought high energy and creativity to this magnificent venue, showcasing a broad cross section of quality musical talent from across Northern California.
