The Hook: New York City’s Best Kept Secret
Emergenza hosts another Eliminatory event at The Hook in Brooklyn
Emergenza hosted another fantastic set of elimination rounds for the bands of Manhattan at The Hook in Brooklyn this past weekend. First of all, The Hook is the best-kept secret of New York City. With the absolute coolest staff and a sound system that could blow Manhattan to the mainland music lovers should definitely make their way to Red Hook, Brooklyn and check it out.
The bands that performed this weekend knew what was up as they took over The Hook and blasted a various array of genres of music throughout the weekend to music lovers of all sorts.
Friday, March 2nd
Chatam kicked things off Friday with soulful song writing and an energetic upbeat set that led the audience into rock stances of their own.
Dellacane had a good ole’ rock n’ roll sound that was fun: catchy yet original. They really kicked the vibe into first gear.
Ripped Imprints: deathcore in your face, these guys melted the stage, burned the dance floor and vomited pure metal as the pit pulsated with the rhythms of distortion and growling tones.
The metal continues with a Faith Contingency. With tight riffs, excellent energy and a knack for rhythm, these guys held their own.
Grrrlfriend intrigued with their female guitar player and nice dispositions. One of the guitar players pulled out a bow for a very pleasant use of effects on their last song.
Siphonsin astounded with their full-fledged rock set that had the audience begging for more!
Saturday, March 3rd
Saturday’s show was also an excellent showcase of some of New York City’s finest.
The Waters opened the event with a great rock set complete with female keyboard/vocalist Asia Mei, excellent guitar solos and a rhythm section that was hard to beat.
Kimberly Korn was up next with a rock set that brought us right back to the 80’s. With ripped fishnet stockings and a miniskirt to match her catchy voice Kimberly Korn owned the stage!
N.A.S.H. was an incredible group of guys that blew the place up with tight rock metal. They had a great stage presence, a professional attitude and excellent tight compositions.
M.J. & The Heretics were something to see. They played pure rock that had a punkish bluesy sound. With a female bassist keeping things together they performed songs that not only inspired but also brought joy.
Dead on a Friday ripped through a pop-punk set that had great rhythms and a driving guitarist. With excellent drums and bass these guys knew how to pump up a crowd!
Grunes Herz closed out the weekend’s event with a purely original and tight rock set. They mixed their European style with a New York attitude and had the audience begging for more.
All and all the New York experience is always one to brag about. With great bands, excellent venues and food to be eaten 24 hours a day this city is definitely one that does not do much sleeping.
