TORONTO’S GRAND FINALE FOR THE FIRST ROUND!

High energy and passionate crowd at the Kathedral

Wrapping up the final weekend of the first round of proceedings in Toronto at the Kathedral was a bit of an interesting undertaking. Thursday evening began with THIS making things interesting with an inimitable rock sound. Crimson In The Attic made their repeat appearance worthwhile and played impressive self described indie-rock. The Information Experiment was impressively unique and donned mascot heads for their instrumental experimental set in three separate movements. Never Mentioned gets a special mention for their punk rock set Thursday night. The Crunch once again played far beyond their young ages blending blues and rock for their arrangement of songs. Underrated wound up the evening with a heavy sounding melodic rock set. Friday began with Mark Hogan making his acoustic guitar sing and his band backed him up every step of the way. Buried with the Broken made themselves heard to any that would listen to their emo/pop rock sounds. Captain Insaniesco and the Ultimo Devastationos created havoc and struck fear in onlookers ripping through a unique epic rock explosion. Brazen followed up and continued the rock show to the pleasure of all. Brane made their second appearance under the same roof this week creating an alternative metal show not to be under estimated. Topp Crime was next to rock the stage before Emergenza veterans and hard rock/metal artists Project Bliss wrapped up the night. Saturday was filled to the brim with bands and action, beginning with the heavy metal sounds of Vengence Through Anihilation. The Cat House Dogs played their first of two pop rock sets Saturday night quickly running off the stage and onto the next. Red Sky Down was next to bring the rock to the stage at the Kathedral with nice arrangements and a full-bodied sound. Serene Love Morphene had their audience wrapped around their finger despite their uneven tones and sound, sound-check, sound-check, sound-check! Dale and the boys from Lush Kings repeated some of their classics from last year’s performance, well-rehearsed and catchy rock tunes. Write To The Head ripped it up with Amanda on drums and Danny singing, the rest of the band going strong, a nice rock n’ roll combination. Prescription for Protest indie/emo/pop/rock trio made their way in from the hinterlands of North Bay Ontario to gather some exposure in the Toronto market. Ironfish can play pretty much any classic rock song you like and they will show you in a medley, they are a damn good rock band. Reverie makes metal music and they like to rock out pretty hard. The audience agreed and we all went home happy. Sunday’s performances enjoyed a snowy evening with 6 bands finally sloshing through the door. Four Two Nothing rolled it up and smoked through their rock set once again. Ghost Television brought back electronica to the stage at Kathedral Sunday night. HATEVIL73 a burgeoning new metal band jammed out a few songs before Nico Team brought back screaming power rock. Tried in Vain played instrumental for their set and next trip back from Peteborough promise they will be accompanied.
