“It Is What It Is”

Columbia South Carolina

This past Saturday Columbia South Carolina had its final eliminatory show at Headliner’s. Headliner’s is Columbia’s top venue. With state of the art sound systems, a friendly bar staff and an all-around positive vibe this venue is one not to be overlooked by bands, bookers and music lovers alike! Their motto is “It Is What It Is –Phuckit S.C.”. The Emergenza shows this weekend followed that motto to a tee. Adam Bryant opened up the night with a unique and inspirational acoustically driven rock set. This young eclectic group of musicians had a nice stage presence and very heartfelt lyrics. They displayed much talent as the members even took a moment to switch up instruments for their final song! From Blood Comes the Fear was a very high-energy metal-hardcore band. They were determined to give metal a new face. They jumped around stage and seemed to be totally enveloped in their purely original in your face set. With tight rhythms, strong screaming vocals and intricate guitar solos these guys were quite impressive. Although the crowd thinned out before the final band of the evening took the stage Thatz It played as if there were 1000 people bumping and grinding to their amazing original funk-reggae set. The two female vocalists not only sang like angels, but also had a very attractive and “Cover of Rolling Stone” look as well. They belted out lyrics as their band pumped pure talent into the ears of the attendees. If you left the show before these guys played you truly missed out on a spectacular performance. Although there were only 3 bands that performed on Saturday night at Headliner’s in Columbia, the show was a good one. With great bands of different genres and a top notch venue Emergenza closed out its elimination shows in Columbia with high hopes of some great semi finals this spring. Keep posted at Emergenza Magazine for details about shows in Columbia as well as in other areas!
