“INDY, INDY, INDY: YOU BROUGHT THE STORM WITH YOU THIS TIME,
BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP THE ROCK!”
One of the strongest snowstorms in a while came through the weekend before the shows started and brought with it a bunch of great and I mean great bands here in Indianapolis.
Thursday, February 8th
Thursday was a great start of the season here in Indy.
The Zen Monkies, with a name like that you know you’re in for a treat. Well these guys had a lot of great origin music that was quite off the hook. For an instrumental band they had a lot of energy and presence.
Then there was Rosetta, a strong indie style, with great vocals and a tight rhythm section, this band is sure going to give this city a run for it’s money.
Friday, February 9th
Friday was full of awesome bands. From Chemical Envy to Ivancic or even Steely James to Pvrenchymv, this night had everything anyone could want.
Taking the number one position was Chemical Envy. This band had high energy and great hooks that brought them to the top that night.
Thorn 4 Memory was another band that could be described by the same description.
Even Elliot Szabo gave us the flavor of acoustic-rock and had one hello of a singer to boot. What a great night!
Saturday, February 10th
Saturday was by far one of the best crowds. From Blood and Soil hit it hard in the number one position to The Team educating everyone what hip-hop and R&B truly means in the second position, or with the Echoes showing everyone what a great guitarist looks like taking #3, but the night wouldn’t be complete without the fourth place band, NeverFound. This band was insane. They had high energy and cutting hooks. Wow for a Saturday, this was one hell of a show and boy will it be hard to see who takes the leading band this year.
Sunday, February 11th
Sunday was a great closing night here at Birdy’s. For only six bands these guys sure filled this night up with great music.
Something Other took the lead for the night with a strong set. Not far behind them was Burden Tree who came from far to steel the second spot.
But those boys from Zen P.R. showed those young boys that age has nothing on rock!
From this weekend that was full of talent it sure is going to be hard to see who is going to be the winning band in Indianapolis this year. I guess we will have to keep our eyes pealed on Indy!
