Emergenza Returns For Another Set of Eliminatory Shows In The South’s Hottest City!



Once again the amps were blaring and the Vinyl on West Peachtree was bumpin’ as Emergenza returned to Atlanta for another set of Eliminatory rounds last weekend. With hip-hop, funk, soul, metal, hard-rock and indie bands Atlanta once again displayed a plethora of talent. Thursday’s events commenced as Exit Plan hit the stage. The young group of musicians had a bluesy sound that jammed and jived as they weaved in and out of amazing guitar solos and tight drum fills. They surprised the audience as they switched up instruments and pulled out a saxophone for their final song. Sean L. McMorris then took over with an instrumental set that blew the minds of both funk lovers and metal heads alike. With exceptional guitar solos and a solid rhythm sections these guys ripped through their set and into the semi-finals without a hitch. Joshua’s Ghost, a rare and eclectic group of musicians stepped up with a very interesting set that had supreme vocals and a unique usage of effects. Protégé then marched on stage with a performance that was hard to top. With three beautiful ladies holding down the rhythm and keys, a superior guitar player and four lead vocalists these guys sure knew how to put on a performance worth seeing. Donned in matching glitter shirts, the vocalists made the audience want to sway to the grooves while praising the man upstairs all at the same time. The Auqa-fi Project closed out Thursday’s show with something different. They played an electronic set complete with keyboards, acoustic guitar and an emcee, which floored the audience. The rare use of acoustic driven vocals mixed with electronic drum beats proved that this band was one to keep your eyes out for in the future. Friday night’s Emergenza shows were off the hook! The line-up was varied as Alternative rock, new wave, funk and Pop groups all shared the same stage. T-Minus Ten opened up the evening with a set that utilized keys, great vocals and a strong drummer to lure the audience into an evening of great rock. House of Thomas then uncovered what radio-friendly rock should sound like. With astounding harmonies, exceptional compositions and a top-notch rhythm section these guys had everyone yearning for more. Vertigo Jones left the audience aghast with an undeniably incredible set. With extraordinary vocals and first-rate compositions the night was only getting better as this friendly and well accomplished band set the bar high for the rest of the night’s performers. PDC changed the mood with an all-out funk set that incorporated reggae, funk and rock that had everyone on their toes. These professional players not only entertained but also had the audience realizing that this was no ordinary showcase. State of Unrest gripped the stage with a fresh sound that was a mix of rock, punk, metal and hip-hop. With tremendous instrumentation these players had it all: guitar rifts, bass licks and horns to complete an excellently composed set. Thunderkatz stormed the stage with a hip-hop/pop set that had the venue abuzz with excitement. With keys, an M.C and a lovely lady belting it out they were full of energy, talent and soul. Attracting industry representatives from all over the board these guys were an excellent example of what kind of talent Atlanta has to offer. Ladies and gentlemen…there are bands out there doing different things and breaking new ground by combining genres of music and bringing pop to a whole new level. Sixth Hour was Friday night’s unparalleled example of hard rock as they took over and brought the energy to new heights. With a packed out audience these guys ripped it up with skilled guitarists and rock-hard drum beats. The vocalist belted out well-composed lyrics as the ladies melted. The Shock Waves sent waves of shock as they pumped out a punk set that was not only entertaining but also well performed. W
