Oh! What a rocking Christmas in Miami!
An explosion of energy at Original Fat Cat’s
The first shows in Fort Lauderdale at Original Fat Cat’s ended up being my most diverse shows this season so far.
We had many different styles of music present and some really great bands!
Thursday, December 14th
Posting Blind started us off on Thursday with a little bit of a 90’s feel. The Seeds of Evolution was a huge crowd pleaser. After that, Crimson Vera really blew everyone’s mind with a diverse sound and a great stage show.
Next up was Alitheia, a progressive-metal band with some great guitar work. Brand Name Punk followed with a great set full of energy. To change up the pace, Samantha Natalie was a piano-pop-rock band with some great songwriting and a good energy.
Don Juan had the full package: looks, energy, and songwriting. The only real way to describe Psyko South was over the top: they finished up the night with crunchy metal with 6 hip-hop vocalists.
Friday, December 15th
Friday started out with a different sound: Transoverload was a techno band with a TON of equipment but they were an interesting addition to the usual rock‘n’roll. Following was Taken Hostage, a 5-piece screamo-band with lots of energy and good vocals.
Run Johnny Run stole the attention of the entire bar! They were an experimental band with almost no vocals but very tight, and had a good feel to them.
Changing pace again was a hard rock band called OFUS. They had good songwriting and energy and were overall a very good band.
Taking a 90 degree turn off the beaten path was Funeral for a Clown: They finished us off for the night with some industrial metal.
Saturday, December 16th
Saturday got started with a bang!
Madsic was a tight metal band that rocked the house.
The Free Chris was hard-rock-funk band with great vocals.
The shortest set played all weekend was by Under the Lights. They’re explanation: “We’re grindcore!”
B. Forry followed up with an acoustic set with great songwriting and she had an awesome voice. Picking up the pace again was Faces of March, a female fronted alternative-rock band that really just finished off the entire weekend with an explosion of energy.
