Toledo’s on the Map!!
The Glass City's first steps
Toledo Ohio, Here We Come!
This is the opening weekend here in Toledo at Mickey Finn’s Pub with Emergenza.
If you have never seen a show at Mickey Finn’s, you don’t know what you’re missing. This is the best pub to play at in Toledo if you ask me!
The line up of bands this weekend was well complimenting the vibe there at Mickey Finn’s. Not a huge line up of bands, which gave the bands that did perform the chance to show Toledo what they are made of.
Friday, December 8th
Friday, hosted to four great bands in their own right.
22B opened the show with a display of makeup and electronic beats, mixed with metal. Followed by Inner Sanctum, giving a driving prog-hard-rock show with great vocals and slamming guitars.
Then to really change things up there was Scowden, an acoustic band bringing a fresh taste to the show with his talented drummer and keyboardist, played a great show with great leading vocals to boot.
Closing the show was Sleeper Cell. This is a well-put together metal band that I feel will have their chance to shine: with a tight rhythm section and great leading vocals, you won’t want to miss this band ever again.
The top two voted bands that did move on, on Friday where 22B and Inner Sanctum.
Saturday, December 9th
Saturday, yielded itself to a much smaller show with only two bands on the bill, but make no mistake both Fortune Favors and Drastic Levels are two great forces to be reckoned with.
Both of these bands had the entire house to themselves. Once they took the stage it was nothing but sheer entertainment from start to finish. I will not be surprised to see both of these bands at the Toledo final!
Sunday, December 10th
Sunday was jam packed with talent. Starting off the night was Twenty Thousand Volts, followed but Kill Your Radio, Death Divides, Killer Kadoogan, and Lynched.
Five great bands that all took the stage with grace.
Lynched hands down stole the show, with a strong set and dedicated fans traveling more then an hour and a half away to help support them all the way to first position. One of my favorites of the night was Kill Your Radio: a young band who’s’ bassist couldn’t make it out to the show, but damn can these boys play. Just one more up and coming band to mention and that’s Twenty Thousand Volts. These guys took third position, but I give them the award for best stage show! That lead singer made my weekend. He plays bass and runs around all over the place, and still managed to sing his butt off. Way to go guy!!
We’ve got one more weekend to go here in Toledo until the semi-finals start.
If the bands in the next weekend are anything like the bands from this weekend, all I have to say is “look out the rest of the world Toledo is now on the Map!!”
