Awesome NYC talent keeps on leaving audiences amazed
Here's what happened last week in Manhattan
Thursday, November 9th
Thursday night began with the raw, energetic rock sounds of Robroymountjoy, the musicians mixed energy of punk rock with sounds of acoustic guitar.
It was a great show to open the night.
The following band Evolutionow presented sounds having their roots in 80''s – their performance was very showy – the vocalist ended singing dancing on the table.
Vortex came up next bringing a different mood to the audience. That was a three piece electronic, trip-hop band – something between Bjork and Portishead, their show was hypnotic and have very good reception of the audience.
Kim Louie bring a different mood – delicate and quiet sounds, interesting lyrics (English and French) – they received big applause from the audience proving that Emergenza is not rock-only festival.
The following show was a great ending of the night – St. Diesalone, alternative rock band from New Jersey presented very efficient, effective and energetic music waking up the audience.
Friday, November 10th
Friday night started with 23 To Sparta, rock band with interesting and happy-sounding compositions. Unfortunately they were first and they did not have a crowd to appreciate their performance.
Damn Glad was following with very efficient, technically great and good sounding rock and roll show, beginning with interesting intro and making the audience waiting for something special.
Plastiq Passion came up next – that was a three girl band (not a typically girls band) with one guy on the bass guitar. They presented very calm and raw sounding new wave songs.
The next performance was fun – H-Cide And The Movement: live hip-hop group raise the audience and made them dancing and cheering.
This genre of music with live instruments has a completely different sound and reception than a DJ and a few MCs – spectators appreciated that.
The following band changed the mood radically, progressive metal with interesting arrangements and instruments (congas), fast guitar solos and very aggressive sound.
Ashes Rising was a great closure of the night.
At the end we had an opportunity to watch the performance of last year Emergenza finalist, Dirty Bath Water, band is preparing a new album. They performed a few songs inviting the audience to join the show and that worked – people were really excited.
Saturday, November 11th
The night began with the classic hard rock band Claire''s Well. Four guys presented a number of good sounding, professionally arranged (vocals and guitars) and performed songs which could remind the audience the sound of 70''s. Good opening of the night.
They were followed by Tasting Grace, electronic pop-rock group with female vocalist and a load of sound effects. Their show was really good prepared and arranged, with intro, intermission and even some choreography. Unfortunately the audience didn''t get it.
The next performer was Joshua Mitchell – solo urban pop artist. He presented a few songs performing with the CD tracks, so it wasn''t technically speaking a band. He''s got a great voice, if there was a band performing with him it could be a great concert.
That night ended with an energetic alternative rock bad from NJ 9 Circles. Four guys presented a very good written and arranged, energetic tunes. They had a good contact with the very small at the time audience.
Unfortunately there were only 4 bands on Saturday night because one of them did not show up.
